The Joint opens third area chiropractic clinic

The Joint Corp., a storefront chain that sells chiropractic care, will open its third clinic in the Sacramento region next week.

Poised to open next week, the latest clinic is located on Golden Centre Lane in the Gold River. Four more are pending in June and July.

The Joint Corp. opened its first local clinic in Loehmann's Plaza in February and second in Elk Grove Commons in March.

Clinics are expected to open in the Lake Crest Village Shopping Center in Greenhaven and the Renaissance Creek Center in Roseville in June, followed by clinics in the Nugget Plaza on Pleasant Grove in Roseville and Broadstone Marketplace in Folsom in July.

"We've had tremendous response," said Chris O'Neal, one of three members of the O'Neal family that owns a big franchise territory for business in Northern California.

The chiropractic chain is based in Scottsdale, Ariz. and headed by John Loenesio, who founded Massage Envy and turned it into a company with hundreds of locations and annual revenue of more than $300 million. Now CEO at The Joint, he's applied the same growth strategy to chiropractic.

The idea is to sell chiropractic as part of a regular wellness routine and make it affordable and accessible. It's a cash-pay business and does not accept insurance.

The two existing clinics in Sacramento and Elk Grove get about 20 customers a day and 10 to 15 new patients a week, O'Neal said. Each site has three employees.

The clinics aren't breaking even yet but are on track to begin to make money six to nine months after opening, he said.
