On-Site Chiropractic Services May Benefit Workplace Wellness

The subject of workplace safety is not something everyone tends to think about, unless your job is as a window washer at the top of a skyscraper. However, people who work every type of job should be concerned about their workplace wellness. Cashiers on their feet all day, need to be balanced and maintain their knee health in order to prevent strain. Sitting at a desk all day can affect the lower back due to poor posture habits, and long periods of staying in one position. People who do manual labor need no explanation.

According to a 2013 study conducted by the United States Department of Labor, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) – which commonly include strains and sprains – account for 33 percent of all workplace injury cases. For this reason, more and more employers are considering the benefits of chiropractic care both off and on the work site. Many companies are adding chiropractic to their list of approved treatments on insurance plans in order to encourage employees to schedule a visit. But some companies are going even further, and testing the idea of offering chiropractic services on the work site.

A recent study examined employees of a large company and the theory that on-site chiropractic may reduce other hospital or other medical care off site, even more than encouraging chiropractic clinic visits. 876 employees of the company received chiropractic treatments at the work site while 759 employees received care off-site. The research team found that overall, the study participants who had on-site chiropractic services utilized hospital or other medical care at a far lower rate than the participants that had off-site services. Offering chiropractic care at the workplace makes achieving optimal health and wellness convenient and easy.
