Sharing Chiropractic Care with the World

While chiropractic care seems to be expanding more and more throughout the United States, there are other countries that have yet to experience its benefits. In New Delhi, India – a place that over 14 million people call home – there is just one doctor of chiropractic lending his services in the burgeoning city. But orthopedic surgeon and current chiropractic student Dr. Vidur Jain is working to change this.

His experience in the world of orthopedic surgery has exposed him to the widespread joint and back pain in India. He explains that many people there work on computers, and develop problems from constantly sitting. His busy practice also sees elderly patients with compounded issues as a result of non-treatment. While physical therapy and surgery may help, Dr. Jain recognizes the importance and potential of chiropractic care as an alternative.

He was first enlightened about chiropractic treatment in 2009 when, during a trip to Canada, he met some chiropractors that were seeing real results for their patients. He knew this type of treatment could fill a void in India at the hospital he ran, and started to seek his own chiropractic education and credentials.

When Dr. Jain graduates in May of this year, he plans to push chiropractic care as a meaningful part of healthcare in India, and pursue its expansion there. On a trip with some fellow chiropractic students, Dr. Jain says the opinions of the people at the outset of chiropractic care were varied. However, he says he also brought an expert chiropractor who performed adjustments on many individuals, and every one of them were pleased with the results.

The expansion of chiropractic into India may be a grassroots effort now, but as millions of Americans can attest, the results of chiropractic care speak for themselves, and it is likely only a matter of time until the movement grows.
