5 Foods Nutritionists Avoid


If you want to start eating healthier, there are some unhealthy food products that you know you’ll be better off cutting out of your dietary plan. Whether they are fattening or loaded with artificial ingredients, there are just some foods that are not beneficial to your body’s health at all. If you start to see a nutritionist, they’ll make sure to assess your current diet and figure out which foods you eat are causing the most issues and need to go. Here are five foods that most nutritionists never eat; you’ll be better off avoiding them as well.

Soda, Including Diet Soda

Soda does not have any nutritional value to it whatsoever. It’s essentially liquid sugar, and it shows its unhealthy effects by causing bloat and weight gain, tooth decay, and fatigue, among many other symptoms. Diet soda is no better at all really, since it is loaded with artificial sweeteners that only provide your body with empty calories, as opposed to any actual nourishment.  

Artificial Sweeteners

As you just read about, artificial sweeteners contain absolutely no nutritious value and are therefore essentially useless and unnecessary to keep in your diet. This is because artificial sweeteners, as evidenced by the name, are completely fake food products. There’s absolutely nothing real involved in these processed products, so why would you want to consume it?

Processed Meat

When you think about the fact that processed meat needs to be filled with preservatives, added salt, and artificial sweeteners in order to maintain a longer shelf life, it makes sense that it is a food that is not so valuable when it comes to nutrition. Fresh meat has a much lower sodium content and generally contains a greater amount of protein overall.


If you like to have cold cereal in the morning, be sure to carefully read the nutrition label when choosing a cereal at the grocery store. Many cold cereals are loaded with sugar, and sometimes even salt, which will start your day by giving you a near-instant energy crash. Since these cereals also tend to be missing fiber and protein, it’s best to stick to fortified cereal or whole grain oatmeal instead.

Fat-Free Dairy

Not only does fat-free dairy not taste nearly as good as its full-fat counterpart, but it is often stripped of essential nutrients such as calcium and other important vitamins and minerals. It’s important to remember that not all fat is bad for you, and that fat from dairy is generally good to have in your diet.

As well as staying clear of these notoriously unhealthy foods, it's also a great idea to regularly check in with your chiropractor.
