Overview

Whether you are planning for a weekend long road trip, hiking or camping endeavor, it is important to always pack sunscreen with you. Have a darker complexion? Although a common mistake, even those with a darker complexion may experience skin damage from the sun.

Along with sunscreen, it is best to also pack clothing that may help with protecting your skin such as hats and long sleeve shirts.

Tips for Sunscreen

There are a few key tips on getting the most out of your sunscreen. Read these facts below and be sure to always pack sunscreen on your next trip!

  • Remember to reapply: the first step in protecting your skin is remembering to layer up. But while putting on sunscreen is important, the next step is to reapply. This is important to remember especially if you are in the water or outside longer than two hours.
  • Anytime: while some people only think wearing sunscreen is important when you are out in the sun for long periods, this is not correct. Even if you are only outside for 15 minutes, it is possible to cause skin damage. It is important for those that work outside, or plan on going anywhere outside to be sure to grab some sunscreen and to remember to reapply it.
  • Makeup with SPF: it is very common for make-up products to contain SPF, which is great. But while having makeup with an SPF is a great effort, you will still need more protection. Not only is make-up SPF on the lower side, it is also most commonly not applied evenly on the skin. This will make your skin more vulnerable to damage if it is not applied evenly. Along with your make-up, be sure to add a facial moisturizer to your regime as well.
  • Spray Sunscreen: using spray sunscreen is a great way to apply protecting without all the extra work. But it is important to remember that because it comes in an aerosol can that it may be flammable. Just remember to apply this type of sunscreen away from any potential dangerous areas such as barbeques.
