Fighting Back Pain: What Are the Options?

Nobody wants to deal with an aching back. When your back hurts, it’s almost impossible to ignore. We use our backs for too much throughout the day. Standing? You’re using your back. Sitting? Back is in use again. Walking, running, exercising, or upright in any way? Yep, your back is engaged. Because of the demands we place on our backs, pain in the area can be a major problem. In order to get rid of back pain, check out these common treatment options available.

Medicine

This one is obvious and probably the most widely used. Taking medication can, in some instances, provide your back with a little relief. Medication can reduce inflammation and pain. For minor pains, this can be especially beneficial. The relief is temporary, however, so if your back pain is chronic, then you may want to look at some other options. In fact, for those that suffer consistently with back pain, research has shown that other options like chiropractic care (see below!) is much more effective at providing relief.

Stretching

Some, but not all, of back pain exists because of natural stiffness and lack of movement. In order to fight this kind of back pain, get moving. This can be done through consistent exercise or, at the very least, some simple stretching. Stretching out the body can keep the muscles loose and limber, which helps to prevent injury. It can also promote mobility, which is crucial for the health of your back. If you have it in you, go one step further and exercise consistently. If you aren’t able or ready for that step, however, then at least get a stretching routine and stick with it.

Chiropractic Care

As mentioned above, regular chiropractic care has been shown to be extremely effective in managing and eliminating back pain. When the vertebrae of the spine become misaligned, which happens much more often than people realize, it can cause a significant amount of pain. Many times, a chiropractor may be able to put the spine back in proper alignment, This may not only eliminate pain, but also bring other benefits such as an increase in energy, a boost in immune health, and many other healthy and unexpected benefits.
