Quick and Easy Healthy Snack Ideas

One of the biggest contributors to weight gain is our out of control snacking. So many of us eat, not when we’re hungry, but when we’re bored. Knowing the difference can be tough. To save yourself the calories while you learn to discern between hunger and boredom, try these easy, quick, low calorie snacks to take on the go.

Carrots

Carrots are super simple to take with you for a healthy on the go snack. You can either buy the full sized carrots and cut them up for easy travel, or you can buy baby carrots that are already tiny. Either way, all you have to do is pop them in a baggie and you’re good to go. Besides being easy, these are extremely low calorie, so you can have quite a few and still not worry about your diet. They also contain a great antioxidant, beta-carotene, which helps to repair cell damage. All in all, you really can’t go wrong with this healthy snack.

Apples

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. This is one piece of ancient advice that still rings true. Apples make for great snacks for a few reasons. First, they literally take zero prep time. You can cut them into slices if you like, but you can also give them a quick rinse, and they are ready to go. As for health, apples have both a high fiber content and high amounts of water. That means that they work well for digestion. Eating an apple a day can help to clear toxins out of your body for optimal health.

Almonds

Almonds are a great source of protein. Carrying a small baggie of almonds means that you are getting a quick pick-me-up type of snack. Protein will give you a small boost of energy so that you can carry out your day. They are also low calorie, so a handful certainly won’t hurt you. Either prepare a quick bag of already shelled almonds, or carry a container in your car.

Protein bar

Many people are tempted to grab a granola bar for a quick on the go snack. Instead, go for an alternative, the protein bar. They are similar, except while many granola bars contain large amounts of sugar, protein bars are packed with energy inducing protein. These can sometimes be a bit high calorie, so check the label. For a quick and easy boost, however, they may be the way to go.

When it comes to sticking to a healthy diet, snacking can make you or break you. Try these quick and easy snacks to keep your diet right and your health improving.
