Hypertension vs Chiropractic Care

Ladies and gentlemen! In the right corner you have your evil returning champion Hypertension, and in the left corner the new contender chiropractic care!

When you read that sentence hopefully you are using a boxing ring announcer’s voice. However, regardless of how you read the words hypertension is something that one in four American adults have. High blood pressure is a leading contributor to Heart Disease which will unfortunately cause the death of 50 percent of Americans. These statistics are frightening, and at the moment they seem unstoppable. Most medications are merely treating symptoms of hypertension/high blood pressure, and a lot of people end up in hospitals for heart surgery when they rely solely on medication.

"Although these drugs may lower blood pressure for a short period of time, they do not address the true cause of the problem, and the drugs’ toxic effects and side-effects may be more damaging than the high blood pressure itself."

How do we battle a bad guy that seems to win every fight we throw at it? This is when we have to start thinking outside of the box, and look at lifestyle habits that care contributing to high blood pressure as well as alternative treatments. Making time to exercise and be active is a must if you find yourself struggling with your blood pressure. You also might find that starting a food journal, and watching what you eat helps keep your blood pressure in a lower safer range.

What happens when you combine healthy eating, active lifestyle changes and chiropractic care?

A study was released in the Journal of Human Hypertension about chiropractic adjustments and their affect on hypertension. The results of this test were so shocking that it had Dr. George Bakris, director of the University of Chicago hypertension center, saying, “Not only does it work, we saw no side effects and no problems.” In this study people were split into two groups; group one received real beneficial chiropractic adjustments and group two did not. The people that received the beneficial adjustments saw a large statistical drop in their systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings. Something else to note, neither group was taking their medications at the time.

"Specific adjustments naturally re-set the brainstem activity to normal balance, ensuring that the body can recognize conditions of high blood pressure, and correct them through its own mechanisms, naturally."

If you are suffering from hypertension, and have been taking countless medications to correct it, this study might be something you should bring up to your doctor. People are seeing some amazing results with chiropractic care!
