3 Simple Ways to Burn Calories All Day Long - 2nd Week
By Genevieve Cunninghm
Burning calories is the ultimate goal in weight loss. In order to drop that weight, the calories have to be spent. Most of us burn calories when we exercise, be it yoga, walking, running, or some other workout. But, what if you could burn more calories all day, even before and after you hit the gym? Check out these three ways to burn more calories throughout your day to help you get closer to your ultimate fitness goal.
March in Place
The first time I heard this advice, it was from an older woman who still looked fit as ever. After some research, I found out that walking or marching in place may help you burn more calories than you realize. If you weigh 150 pounds and march in place for 10 minutes, you can burn around 75 calories. Add marching in place to random moments throughout the day.You might feel a little silly at first, but the burned calories will be worth it! Make it simple. Cooking dinner? March. Washing dishes? Go ahead and march. Every chance you get, get in a few steps and burn more calories every single day.
Turn on the Air Conditioner
If you turn down the air just a few notches, it might help your body burn more calories naturally. When it’s cold, your body has to use fat storage in order to heat your body back up to the proper temperature. It won’t be so many that you can skip all exercise, but it will be enough to keep your body burning calories all day long.
Chew Some Gum
I know it sounds silly or even too good to be true, but chewing gum can help you burn calories without taking any in. Chewing a piece of gum for one hour burns approximately 11 calories. That may not sound like much, but over time, you may be able to burn as many as 100 extra calories a week. What’s more, chewing gum can serve as an appetite suppressant and helps to calm nerves for some people. That’s pretty good for an activity that almost literally requires zero effort.
If you’re serious about burning calories in your typical day, these tips are sure to be beneficial. Eat a well balanced diet and exercise, and use these as a healthy addition. Just add them to your normal routine, no fuss or hassle, and get your body in the best shape of your life.
