Chiropractic Care And Other Tips To Stay Healthy This Fall In San Clemente

It's that time of the year again, where the leaves are falling and the weather is nice and crisp. Although it is a great time to start bundling up and changing our wardrobe, it is also the time where we tend to fall ill and gain extra pounds.

So what can you do to make sure that you not only stay healthy but enjoy the winter months without curbing into unhealthy eating?

Below are a few tips to help you stay on track and enjoy the upcoming fall and winter months.

Holiday eating

It's one of the many things that everyone looks forward to at this time of year: turkey and all the great fixings that come with the holiday season!

But we all know, it can sometimes be a challenge to watch our weight while trying to indulge in our favorite holidays foods.

A few tips to use while enjoying the holiday eating include:

  • Don’t arrive hungry: we all know how it is to be on an empty stomach surrounded by yummy food. This makes us believe we need to consume more than we really should, leading the way to overeating. Eating something small before heading over to a holiday party, will help curb your need to indulge more than normal!
  • Eat smaller portions: this may be hard to do when you can't get enough of that dessert! But it's important to take small portions of everything, so that you can enjoy it without overdoing it!
  • Give yourself a rule: instead of telling yourself you are not allowed to have anything sweet, allow yourself to have certain dishes. The catch though is to give yourself only an amount you are allowed to have. That way you are treating yourself, but controlling how much you will be eating.

Exercise is key

During the summer months, we have so much incentive to work out and stay active because we want to look good in our swimsuits! But once the winter months come, with our bodies bundled up, we almost forget the need to stay active.

So what can you do during the winter months to keep up on fitness, without being discouraged by the weather? Try including aerobics, walking and dancing into a weekly schedule: all of these you can do during the winter months, while helping to fight stress levels.
