The New Level of Wellness Incorporation in Hotels

With a growing level of attention paid to wellness and improving our overall health status, many different sectors of business are finding ways to incorporate wellness into their business models. Not only do certain sectors of business see an increased need to provide opportunities for customer wellness, but many companies see dollar signs in wellness, hoping that their business will become more attractive to due to their provision of wellness initiatives. One of these business sectors is the hotel business.

A significant amount of workers travel on a regular basis. There are some professions that require sometimes upwards of 80% travel. Jobs in pharmaceutical sales or other types of sales require high amounts of customer interfacing and almost constant travel, so these professionals are essentially always on the road. When there is so much travel, professionals rely on hotels for   a place to stay and recharge. But when we are in constant motion, it is difficult to be mindful of our wellness and what we are doing to stay healthy.

That is exactly why hotels are beginning to increase the emphasis on wellness throughout their facilities. With adjustments like improved bedding, more comfortable mattresses, increased capacities of the hotel’s fitness center, the inclusion of spas, healthy breakfast options yoga centers, and so many more ways to improve the wellness of their guests, hotels are making a stringent effort towards wellness provision.

Economic forecasters are predicting $310.2 spent on travel globally throughout 2015. This is a hefty sum of money and with increased consciousness of wellness’ importance in these travelers, hotels are recognizing that they can attain profit increases and attract more guests by increasing the wellness consciousness of their own facility.

A recent survey conducted by Amex Hilton and Skift reported that 41.7% of business travelers work out while traveling, and 22.8% of business travelers place a hotel’s fitness center at the top of their priorities when choosing a hotel. This is only one element of wellness, but further developing fitness centers is just one simple way for the hotel to see more traffic, more profits, and more returning customers.
