Need Help with Painful Hands? See Your Chiropractor

By Sandy Schroeder

Many of us sit for hours in front of a computer using a keyboard nonstop. It’s a way of life. But sometimes too much continuous work with the hands and wrists creates pain, making work a challenge.

At the same time, everyday tasks may become difficult, too. I have had friends who started with work pain and then found their whole life was impacted as they struggled to get past the pain.

See Your Chiropractor

If you are having problems with your hands and wrists, your chiropractor may have the answers you need now. The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you is staffed with licensed chiropractors who help individuals of all ages deal with pain and learn new preventive measures.

When you visit, your chiropractor will want to discuss your pain, your job, your workplace, and your medical history. If it seems beneficial, a spinal adjustment will be used in an open bay area on a special table. As the adjustment realigns any dysfunctions in the spine, you may experience far-reaching pain relief in areas such as the neck, back and other joints, along with broader benefits such as more energy, more alertness, and more relaxation.

As treatment progresses, your chiropractor will work with you, and your physician, with the goal of getting you back to your normal routine. Hands-on advice will be added.

Hands-On  Advice

Give your wrists and your neck and shoulder muscles lots of breaks.

  • Stretch 10 minutes every hour, getting up and walking around. Do ongoing mini-breaks at your desk.
  • Lift hands off of keys and let arms hang at your sides.
  • Hold arms in front of you with limp wrists. Raise wrists pointing fingers upward. Lower wrists pointing downward.
  • Put your forearm on a flat surface and rotate your wrist clockwise. Pause and rotate counterclockwise.

I have worked with numerous people who have struggled with pain as they worked. The ones who were the most successful in getting back to normal reacted early to the pain and followed through seeing their doctors and chiropractors for assessment. As they reduced pain, they were careful to take steps to prevent future overloads.

Stop by The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you to get started. The Joint provides an affordable care program to eliminate the need for insurance. Weekend and evening hours make visits convenient, and no appointments are needed. Walk-in visits are welcome.
