A subluxation is a vertebra out of proper alignment causing pressure or an interference with the nervous system.

Why do you need to be adjusted frequently
in the beginning?
Your spine needs to be re-trained. It has forgotten what normal
is. Only by getting adjusted 3-4 times a week will we be able to
correct your spines' "bad habits" and get it back "in shape."
It took your spine years, probably decades to get to its current state. It's going to take some time to 'un-get' you this way. Re-training your spine follows the same logic as initiating an exercise program. It takes practice, consistency, and regularity in order to achieve results.
Re-training your spine is crucial because of the
impact it will have on your health. Your spine houses the beginning
of the nervous system (in the form of your spinal cord). The nervous
system is involved with every cell, tissue, organ, and function of
the body. Misalignments in your spine cause interference with the
nervous system. Thus having your spine properly aligned will not
only help your neck and back, it will also help your whole body work
at 100%.
How will you benefit?
You should begin to notice some changes in your body after a few
adjustments. The aches and pains that you came to see us about will
seem to be improving. Several weeks after frequent adjustments, you
might start noticing other improvements in your energy level, sleep
quality, and posture. Following a few months of regular adjustments
people also notice that their bodies start to work better overall,
allowing them to enjoy a superior quality of life. These
improvements will occur because your nervous system and spinal cord
no longer suffer from interference, thus allowing your body to work
properly.
Will this really work?
Yes, it has been working for over a hundred years. Chiropractic
care has worked for hundreds of people right here at The Joint. We
invite you to talk with some of the people who have achieved an
improvement in various areas of their lives by using chiropractic as
a health-maximizing tool.
Will you always need the Corrective plan?
No, once we have re-trained your spine we will have made a lasting
corrective effect in the way your body functions. To get to that
stage, you can expect to be on the Corrective Plan for several
months before your body begins to work at 100%. Once your spine has
begun to remain properly aligned for longer periods of time your
Chiropractor will suggest that you switch to The Maintenance Plan.
This plan consists of weekly adjustments to maintain what we have
accomplished.
