Simple Ways to Make Pounding Headaches History

If you count yourself lucky on the mornings that you get up and do not start the day with a pounding headache, you are one of many. Today’s stressful pace of life, coupled with financial, family and time demands can practically guarantee a few headaches. And often the quick answer is an over the counter pain reliever in the morning, and maybe one more in the afternoon, depending on how the day is going.

But most of us will agree that this is no way to live. Seeing your doctor to make sure there are no specific causes is a good first step, and then your chiropractor may be able to add some additional assistance.

Your Chiropractor May Have A Better Answer

The chiropractor will start with a spinal adjustment to evaluate the health of the spine. The chiropractor’s goal is to achieve a healthy spine and nervous system. In many cases this may be helpful for tension headaches and headaches that come from problems with the neck. The chiropractor will also take a medical history, and spend some time discussing daily activities that may be contributing to the headaches.

Together the two of you can work through ways to help erase the tension and return the spine to normal health. Researchers report 95 percent of headaches are tension, migraine or cluster headaches. Many of these headaches stem from muscle tension in the neck as we hunch over computer screens or slouch on the couch in the evening. More and more we are becoming an electronic society with many people spending hour upon hour in awkward postures.

The chiropractor will help you put together a plan for better posture when you are using your computer, working on hobbies or doing other small hands on tasks. There will also be suggestions for checking out your mattress to avoid lumpy sleeping stress to the spine and trying out some stretches to ease muscle tension. The advice might also include a healthier choices of fruits, vegetables and lean protein, more daily water intake, and some new walking or relaxation classes.

If headaches have become part of your life, seeing your doctor to rule out any other causes, and then seeing your chiropractor to provide some additional answers may make quite a difference.
