Healthy Chiropractic Tips on Eating Well & Staying Slim

Advice becomes pretty tempting when someone says we can eat well, stay slim and enjoy good health just by making a few simple changes. That is really the chiropractic message that more and more people are gravitating to as the chiropractor becomes a guide to fitness.

Skipping that morning donut or burger and fries lunch, is becoming more and more popular as breakfast bowls of oats topped with fresh fruit, and lunch servings of leafy green salads full of avocadoes and shrimp become repeat favorites.

The American Chiropractic Association expands on this with more tips. Weave in 20 to 30 minutes of exercise or multiple 10 minute sessions at least three or four days out of the week. Dine out less and be more selective when you do, avoiding high fats and sugars. Eliminate smoking and keep an eye on your cocktails and beers.

Reduce the amount of processed food and try to eat 25 to 30 grams of fiber in beans, nuts, fruits, vegetables and cereals every day. Stay hydrated and go easy on the coffee, teas and energy drinks.

This focus on great nutrition, coupled with relaxation and strength exercises, is readily available when you visit a chiropractor. Not only can the chiropractor assist when pain or injury occurs, but the wellness approach is often incorporated in the overall solution.

The chiropractor will have a whole range of tips that can be tailored to you. The first visit starts with a spinal adjustment to evaluate spinal health. It is followed by a review of medical history and a look at daily activities. The chiropractor’s goal will be to seek solutions for pain relief without medications or surgery.

Next come good tips on diet, weight loss and new ways to relax, dump stress and stay active. I have watched friends and relatives make their way through chiropractic treatment learning to change their eating habits and take nutrition more seriously. Less donuts, chips, pizza and beer happened, while exercise became more regular, and weight began to drop. Of course when things look better in the mirror and there is more energy this can become a trend.

One friend of mine found herself working too much and eating more. She started regular chiropractic visits and followed the nutritional advice. It was tough to avoid the old donut and burger temptations, but she kept going. She also joined a gym and started a yoga class. Six months later she and the chiropractor were both beaming. She was a size smaller and a lot happier and healthier. Another relative of mine got trapped into long hours, and new financial pressures. He also saw his chiropractor and worked his way back to better times. He calmed down, lowered his blood pressure, walked more, started a Tai Chi class and began to skip fast food altogether.

As visits to the chiropractor continue, whole new health programs may emerge bringing with them more energy and better health numbers.

If this sounds like a plan to you, make an appointment now and try it out.
