How Chiropractic May Improve Chronic Dizziness

I’ve noticed that I tend to get a little woozy, light headed, or dizzy whenever I’m overly tired, stressed, or even overheated. Usually I just need to sit down for a minute and maybe have a glass of water to start feeling better. Given how bad I think that feels, I can’t possibly imagine how debilitating it must be to have to live with chronic dizziness, but I do know people who deal with this condition on an almost daily basis.

It seems like when it comes to feeling really light headed and weak on your feet, there’s not much that can really be done except to rest and limit your movement for a bit until you start to regain your balance and composure. Many of the people I know who get dizzy, and sometimes even fall down, frequently seem to have resigned themselves to this way of life, which can be truly debilitating and limiting. That’s why I was so glad to find a post by ChiroNexus that discusses the correlation between chiropractic treatments and lessened symptoms of dizziness. As I pass along what I learned to the people in my life who I know could really benefit from this news, I thought I’d also share with you how chiropractic can improve your chronic dizziness.

Something that surprised me the most to learn was that chronic dizziness and lightheadedness is often produced in the body as a result of a serious or even traumatic head, neck, or brain injury. Whether caused by a fall, a car accident, or a sporting mishap, an injury to the head and neck area can cause serious dizzy spells for years and years after the fact, even if you didn’t feel any serious pain or dizziness at the time that the injury was sustained.

Since chiropractors are trained to relieve pain associated with injuries and strains to the neck and back area, it only makes sense that a chiropractor can also use manual manipulation techniques to potentially reduce a patient’s chronic dizziness as well. As the spinal cord is gently manipulated by a doctor of chiropractic back into its proper position, inflammation in the surrounding soft tissue will often heal on its own, which will allow for natural pain relief and increased mobility. As these passages of nerves to and from the spinal cord are released of any potential blockages that may be occurring, dizziness may disappear.
