Why You Should Exercise First Thing in the Morning

The debate about the best time of day to get in your workout will probably go on forever. There are people that believe firmly in one theory or another. Some swear that an afternoon workout or after dinner workout sweats off those calories that you took in all day and gets your body ready to burn fat while you sleep.

Now, while this makes a lot of sense, there are some real benefits to working out in the early morning as well. To find out why you should exercise as soon as your feet hit the floor each morning, read on for some benefits to early morning exercise.

There Are No Excuses

If you wait until late in the day to workout, you are much more likely to find a reason not to do it. You’re too tired from a long day at work. You don’t have time before dinner. You forgot your clothes at home and don’t want to go back across town. If you workout first thing in the morning, those excuses are nonexistent. The only excuse available is that you are too lazy to get out of bed! And since no one wants to admit their own laziness, you are more likely to either get up,or at least realize that the real problem is yourself and not some exterior situation.

It Boosts Fat Loss All Day Long

A lot of people want to workout in the evening because they think it can help them burn calories at night. That’s great! But what about burning calories all day long? With a good workout in the morning, you get your metabolism moving before you ever put a single bite of food into your mouth. Your body will be up and moving before the day ever begins. If you really want to burn fat, get in a morning workout, and burn them off all day.

You’re More Likely to Eat Healthy

Exercise and healthy eating go hand in hand. What many don’t realize is that exercise encourages healthy eating without the person even realizing it. Those that exercise regularly are more likely to choose a healthy lunch over those that never hit the gym. By working out first thing, you are more likely to make good food choices all day long. If you’re having trouble ditching the donuts, try moving your workout to earlier in the day and see if your eating habits get better naturally.

You Will Have Lower Stress Levels

You know those terrible days that you feel really stressed before you even get to work? You are less likely to have those days as often if you work out in the morning. Exercise naturally lowers mental stress levels and boosts moods. With a good routine in the morning, you are less likely to let traffic, running late, or some other outside stimulus upset you. Instead, it is easier to take it all in stride, and you’ll start your day off stress free.

While getting a morning workout routine can be tough, it is really worth the time and effort. Just stick with it! That is the hardest part. If you can stick with it, you will reap some super healthy benefits and enjoy a much healthier and positive day everyday.
