Dr. Catherine Kuiken, D.C.
Dr. Kuiken has lived in Texas most of her life. She was born in Wichita, Kansas and then grew up on a farm in Melissa, Texas. Dr. Kuiken was a former competitive gymnast and suffered from many concussions and injuries. At the age of twelve, after having to quit gymnastics due to the amount of pain from injuries and illness she was experiencing, Dr. Kuiken was soon diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and was told by Medical Doctors that she would not live for more than ten years and would need to go through chemotherapy and steroids to help with pain and aggression of the disease. Thankfully Dr. Kuiken's mother wisely chose the holistic route for her to instead heal her immune system. After strict nutritional changes and intensive Chiropractic care, within six months of the diagnosis, Dr. Kuiken thankfully tested negative for Lupus and all of her symptoms were nearly gone.
This is an experience that Dr. Kuiken is grateful for as it let her have first-hand experience and appreciation that the power the made the body, heals the body. Healing begins from above and within. Therefore, removal of interference from our own natural healing source of the central nervous system is essential, for healing and health maintenance.
Dr. Kuiken received her Bachelor degree in health and wellness, Bachelor in Anatomy, and Doctorate of Chiropractic all at Parker University in Dallas. She owned her own Chiropractic clinic in Frisco, Texas for four years and although she loved the experience, she is currently enjoying her work at The Joint so that she can spend her time solely with her patients and not have to deal with the 24/7 tasks of running a business. Another reason she chose The Joint for her place of work is because it allows patients with both financial and time restraints to be able to receive their weekly adjustment for both corrective and preventative care.
The techniques that Dr Kuiken performs are specific, gentle if needed, and effective for the goals you seek to accomplish. Some of her techniques include Diversified, Thompson, Activator, upper cervical, extremity adjusting, and is certified in CATS cranial adjusting all of which are beneficial to those suffering from head injury, headache/migraine, learning disability, spinal pain, autoimmune disease, and those seeking to maintain a good quality of life.
Dr. Kuiken is living proof that Chiropractic works, which is why she is so passionate about the purpose of her life of sharing this care with others.
