Do A Posture Check & Let Your Chiropractor Do A Tune Up

Sometimes after a long day hunched over a screen at work, it’s easy to go home slump on the couch for a few hours, and then later drift off to sleep on a lumpy mattress. The problem becomes one of carelessness. As long as every thing is running OK, most of us tend to assume everything is OK.

But your chiropractor will tell you all of the poor posture moves eventually show up in problems with your spine and the nervous system.

If you look around you will see people slouching or hunching with their head bent forward. Long hours and hunched screen positions, sports accidents or car accidents, and lumpy couches and mattresses can all contribute to an ongoing posture problem. The body in turn compensates for the bad posture throwing everything in your body out of balance and opening the door to more spinal tension and future pain.

I have seen poor posture lead to sciatica where every step is painful. I have also seen seniors with limited neck motion who can no longer fish, do their woodworking or sewing because the neck has become stiff and painful. I have also known friends who ran into lower back pain that prompted an early retirement and cut short all of their family travels.

Seeing your chiropractor for a tune up could be an easy answer.

We all make sure our cars and our home appliances are maintained, and a spinal tune up can work much the same way. Your chiropractor can evaluate your spine with a spinal manipulation. A detailed medical history and review of job and daily activities will also be included in the visit.

Then the chiropractor can give you some assessments of your posture, and suggest work and home posture exercises. There may also be a schedule of maintenance visits, changes in mattresses, or other corrections. The chiropractor will be checking for body alignment, pelvis tilt, and forward head bending.

The end goal of the chiropractor will be to keep you running as well as your car with a healthy spine. Peak running also means you may be avoiding future back, leg or neck pain, and you may be able to enjoy all of the hobbies, sports and travels a lot longer.

Consider making an appointment now and find out where you stand with posture and what a tune up can do.
