Quick Fixes For Your BO

Fact: there is little that is more embarrassing than being out in public, smelling something foul and then, gasp!, realizing that the horrific odor is emanating from you. You quickly run through a mental checklists of reasons why you may stink: did you put on deodorant? Yes. Did you brush your teeth? Yes. Did you manage to step in something smelly? No. So, what could it be? Well, it could be due to a number of things, actually. Odors that your body emits outside of itself are generally telling of what’s going on inside your body. However, when you’re in a room full of people, you don’t necessarily have the time to think about anything else other than getting rid of that awful scent. So the next time you find yourself in a smelly situation, try one of these quick fixes:

Smelly Situation #1: You have terrible breath.

So, you brushed your teeth before you left the house this morning but, somewhere in between that cup of coffee and that tuna sandwich and now, your breath went from tolerable to terrible. Throughout the day, bacteria and mucus can settle on your tongue, causing bad breath. Don’t have a mint handy? Find a clean paper napkin and gently rub your tongue with it, eliminating some of that odor-causing bacteria. Also, chewing on a crunchy piece of produce (like an apple or some celery) and then washing it down with a glass of water can do the trick, too.

Smelly Situation #2: Your feet stink.

Are you aware of the musty smell coming from your feet? Are you worried that your coworkers can smell it, too, even though your shoes are still on? Chances are, they can. And it’s not enjoyable. Head to the bathroom and use a few dry paper towels to soak up all of the moisture on your feet. If there is deodorant handy, swipe a bit of it on the bottoms of your feet. And, lastly, try to remember to pack an extra pair of socks in your briefcase for situations like this one. They may come in handy.

Smelly Situation #3: You smell worse than you feel.

Had a bit too much fun last night? Even though you brushed your teeth AND took a shower, your long night of drinking may still be seeping from your pores and causing you to smell like a bar (which isn't helping your hangover). In order to spare yourself and those around you from reliving your night of partying, drink a glass of pink grapefruit juice. The enzymes in the juice can help your liver to metabolize the alcohol in your system a bit quicker, absolving your body of that terrible stench.
