Meet The Doctors
Dr. David Hummel, D.C.
Dr. David Hummel D.C. came to the Richmond area in 1992 with his family and has loved the area ever since! He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA in 2006. After working several years in the community, he went back to obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida Campus. During his time there he honed many of his chiropractic techniques, including but not limited to Diversified, Thompson, and Impulse instrument adjusting. Furthermore Dr. Hummel spent over 2 weeks in Fiji on a Clinic abroad trip treating those under their scope of practice and realizing the power of the adjustment.
Dr. Hummel is also active within the community and enjoys spending time with family and lovely fiancé, Leigh Ann, who also is about to become a chiropractor. He loves his rescue dog buddy and the sport of basketball. He looks forward to sharing his passion about chiropractic and welcoming you to our office.
Dr. Tyson Pottenger, D.C. BCAO
Life University College of Chiropractic
Years Practicing: 4
Dr. Pottenger grew up in Germantown, Ohio, a small town South of Dayton. Originally, he desired to become a Medical Doctor, but that goal quickly changed after his first Chiropractic experience. In his junior year of high school, Dr. Pottenger became bothered by nagging pain in his hip / low back after a hard hit going up for a ball during a soccer match. His father sent him to see his Chiropractor and he experienced immediate relief after his first visit. Leaving the office that day, Dr. Pottenger decided he would become a Chiropractor instead.
He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. While at Miami, he spent a summer as an intern working with spinal cord injury patients. He graduated from Miami, married his fiancé, and moved to Atlanta in 2007 to attend Life University. While at Life University, Dr. Pottenger benefited from a diverse education. He also earned an additional board certification in Atlas Orthogonal (BCAO) – a technique specializing in correction of the top most bone in the spine which is often responsible for migraines. He graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in December, 2011.
Dr. Pottenger practiced Chiropractic from early 2012 to mid-2015 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has worked in a multi-disciplinary office with Medical Doctors and Physical Therapists. Dr. Pottenger moved to Virginia in August 2015 to work within the unique wellness-based model offered by The Joint. He and his family are excited to come to the Richmond area and he looks forward to providing years of service.
