Plan Ahead

One of the most important tips for travelers with celiac disease is planning. You have to figure out how to eat safely while on a trip. This may mean packing food in a bag or cooler for car or bus rides. It can also mean finding restaurants and cafes that serve gluten-free food ahead of time. In addition, it may be necessary to locate grocery stores and markets to purchase your own gluten-free food.

If you are traveling and will not have access to a kitchen on a regular basis, cooking is not an option. Try to locate hotels, restaurants and other establishments that serve gluten-free food. Plan a route that includes them and make sure they understand the dangers of celiac disease.

Get Travel Cards

You can make small travel cards at home that mention celiac disease and ask for gluten-free food in multiple languages. Consider printing them out and laminating them so they do not fall apart.
