How to Easily Improve Your Skin Care Routine

By Genevieve Cunningham

Improving and protecting the health of your skin is definitely an important task. Our skin is the first thing that others see, and it’s a reflection of us. Though there are things that are out of our control, we should be protecting our skin to the best of our ability. In recent years, taking care of the skin has been a hot topic. And for the most part, we’ve done a better job as a society. But is there more that we could be doing? If you would like to take your skin care routine up a notch, take a look at these three tips to add to your life today.

Add a Mask Once a Week

Most people are aware that you have to wash your face every day. Once in the morning and once at night is ideal. But a great many leave it at that. If you want to take your skin care routine up a notch, add an exfoliating and refining mask once a week. There are a ton of options available, which means you should be able to find something that suits your particular skin. Adding this to your routine should help tighten the skin, reduce wrinkles, and improve the texture of your skin overall.

Increase Your Sun Protection

You’re putting on a moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning, right? Maybe it’s time to take that to the next level. How? If you’re using a lower SPF, get a stronger option. The stronger, the better, especially for your face, neck, and hands. You can also improve your sun protection by reapplying throughout the day. Sunscreen only lasts for a few hours, so it should be applied multiple times. Try making it part of your routine -- sunscreen in the morning, at lunch, after work, and anytime you’re going to be in the sun excessively. Protecting your skin from the sun helps keep fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots from forming in the first place, and can also protect you from diseases such as skin cancer.

Dry Brush

Dry brushing is like exfoliating, except that your skin is completely dry when you do this. You can use a dry brush (found online) or a loofah that you already have at home. What’s the point? It’s thought that dry brushing gets rid of dead skin cells, promotes regeneration of healthy skin cells, and increases circulation to that area of your body. Those who use this technique claim that it clears the skin, helps get rid of the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks, and makes the skin look and feel healthier and more alive.

Taking care of your skin is important for your health -- both physical and mental. The better you feel in your own skin, the better you’re going to feel about life. Use these tips to take your skin care routine to the next level, and enjoy your healthy new skin for years to come.
