4 Simple Ways to Incorporate Exercise into Daily Life

By Brandi Swieter

Exercise is necessary for adequate health. Even those who eat healthy and look fit need to follow a proper fitness routine if they want strong bones and muscles. While it may be hard to find the time to incorporate fitness into one’s life, there are some simple ways to do so that won’t take much effort.

Use a Pedometer

Everyone gets in a little exercise as long as they’re walking. The more steps a person takes, the more exercise they get. By using a pedometer that tracks the number of steps taken, people can become more conscious of what they’re doing. If they see they’ve only taken a small amount of steps, they can work on upping that number to get a better reading. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is one easy way to do that.

Find a Favorite Exercise

Most people aren’t going to love doing a hardcore workout every day of their lives. For some, swimming is the only form of a workout they really enjoy. Perhaps lifting weights is what some people like. The best way to incorporate more fitness into everyday life is by finding a favorite routine and sticking with it. Of course, it’s also important to add in some other forms occasionally for a more well-rounded routine that works out every part of the body.

Make Small Changes

The problem many people experience when trying to exercise is that they start out too fast and too hard. They think they can get in a long workout and do many repetitions to improve endurance quickly and lose weight fast. This is not the case. It is important to start with small changes so it doesn’t become overwhelming. Too many people start up quickly and peter out just as fast after going too hard at it. Small changes over time is the way to go.

Schedule It

Without much time to exercise, not everyone can manage to fit it in. Rather than trying to see if time comes up throughout the day, people are far better off scheduling their exercise time in advance. Add at least a half hour per day, five times per week to the calendar so it starts becoming part of the agenda. You can even plan to get in a half hour on the treadmill or elliptical while you watch your favorite show in the evening if that’s the only time you have.

Incorporate exercise into daily life if you want strong muscles and improved health. Fitness is important for everyone as it helps to lower the risk of many diseases and enhance both mental and physical health.
