Easy Ways to Get a Workout Outside of the Gym

Many of us have the best of intentions when signing up for a gym membership. Unfortunately, we often end up finding that our busy schedules and commitments to other areas of our lives make it very difficult, if not almost impossible, to actually find the time to utilize that gym membership on a regular basis. This may end up causing us to feel so discouraged that we dash any and all hopes of achieving our fitness goals altogether. Fortunately, there are ways we can work toward improving our overall fitness level without having to sacrifice time or money on a gym membership. Simply add a few more healthy habits into your daily routine for better health and wellness overall.

Exercise During Your Commute/Chores Whenever Possible

If you live close enough to your place of work, consider cycling therea t least a few mornings a week. This will be a great way to start of your day, and you'll arrive at the office feeling energized and productive before even getting to your cubicle. If that's not a viable option, try to find opportunties for exercise. For instance, take the stairs at the metro station and in your office building, as oposed to using the elevator.

You can also apply these principles while running around town doing errands or other chores. Consider walking or cycling to businesses if you can. Always take the stairs instead of an elevator or escalator. Park farther away from the front of the store. These little changes can add up to big changes to your health and wellness over time. 

Have Fun With It

Of course, you don't need to necessarily pair these easy exercises with work and chores only. If you have a dog, be sure to take it on long walks, or even runs, if you're both up for it. If you have children, consider spending time taking walks around the neighborhood with them for quality bonding and fitness time. You may also want to go on hikes with a few of your good friends as a way to catch up, as opposed to merely grabbing a cup of coffee at a cafe.
