Prepare Your Body With Chiropractic Care
By Donna Stark
I carpool to work with a friend of mine, and a few months ago she arrived at my house a little late. As soon as I saw her, I knew something was wrong. Maybe it was that look of pain in her eyes or that depressing, wimpy hello she gave me. Or perhaps it was the more obvious fact that her head and neck appeared completely frozen to me … she couldn’t even move them. My poor friend was so upset because she couldn’t believe how easily it had happened (she turned her neck while making coffee), and she didn’t know what to do at that point for it.
Have you ever hurt yourself while doing the most mundane, innocuous activity possible, such as throwing out your back while sneezing or straining your neck while tickling your baby? If you have, you can understand the frustration and pain, but if you haven’t, get prepared because a little accident like that could happen to you sooner than you think. And the best way to prepare yourself? Just head on in to The Joint Chiropractic.
Prepare Your Body
Life and its little accidents happen to us all. We all sneeze a little too hard sometimes, we all have a night of sleeping in the wrong position, and we all bend down to pick up a toy and then struggle to straighten back up. The question isn’t “what did I do to deserve this pain and discomfort?†Rather, it’s “what can I do to help reduce the risk of injury when those things happen?†Let’s take a look at a few suggestions.
- Chiropractic care - Regular chiropractic adjustments are the perfect way to reduce the risk of injury while simply going about the typical movements of your day! They are great for reducing any pain or tension, improving your physical function, and speeding the healing process if you already have an injury.
- Stretches - If you work at a desk job or are stationary for long periods of time, be sure to get up and stretch throughout your day. Prolonged sitting can wreak havoc on your body and your overall health, so be sure to add plenty of movement and stretching as those hours tick by.
- Strength - Increase your range of motion, find relief from pain, and reduce the risk of injury by strengthening those muscles in your back and neck with simple exercises and strength training. Start focusing on your posture as well!
