Chiropractic Tips for Reducing Lower Body Pain
By Brandi Goodman
The lower body is a common place to feel pain. Many people describe feeling aches in their knees, ankles, and hips most often. It can be tough to find pain relief for these areas and relieve the pressure placed on the joints. Keep a few chiropractic tips in mind if you hope to improve your lower body's range of motion and reduce the pain you tend to feel in this portion of your body.
Strengthen the Aching Areas
If you want to reduce your aches and pain felt in your lower body, then you need to strengthen those areas. Perhaps your ankles are the problem point. Rotate them around in one direction for several repetitions and then rotate them back the other way. You should make a full circle. Calf raises also work to strengthen the ankles, as well as the calves. If your knees are giving you trouble, perform exercises that will target them. Squats may hurt the knees at first, but over time you'll notice less resistance and pain. A bridge can help to reinforce hip strength.
Try Water Therapy
Water therapy is ideal for building strength within the lower body. It is not as harsh on the joints as hard surfaces. Water eases the impact so you can move more freely and with less pain, if any. Even those with arthritis or those who are getting older and struggling to work out on land can use the water as a way to maintain fitness abilities.
Particular areas of your body may still suffer from aches no matter what you try. You can still get your workout in for the day by using a brace. Keep it on during strenuous activity so you do not do further damage to the surrounding joints. A knee brace is popular, but ankle and hip braces are available as well.
See a Chiropractor
A chiropractor may be able to remove joint restrictions that are causing some of your discomfort. The back is not the only place that can benefit from this type of care. The hips, especially, can have pain reduced from an adjustment -- and the knees and ankles may be able to as well. The Joint Chiropractic is the place to start. See if a doctor of chiropractic there can offer suggestions on how to keep your lower body in the best shape for optimal health and limited pain.
