Nagging Neck Pain and the Chiropractor

By Brandi Goodman

Back pain is one of the more common reasons people opt for a chiropractic visit. It's not the only culprit, however. Nagging neck pain that has you rotating your neck, trying to stretch your shoulders, and rubbing at your skull can also be a serious cause for concern. Visit the chiropractor when you have neck pain that needs to be addressed.

Tech Neck

One of the biggest culprits of neck pain is tech neck. This term was coined because modern technology has taken over. People spend far too much time looking down at their smartphones and tablets. The head is heavy, and keeping it positioned downward for so long can really pull on your neck and shoulder muscles and leave them aching. You should see a chiropractor to help begin to correct the problem. In the future, bring your device up to eye level and don't allow yourself to look down at it.

Frequent Headaches

Nagging neck pain can cause a headache. This may be a minor ache that stays around for a while or a severe migraine that won't let you see the light of day. You need to see a chiropractor if you start to notice regular headaches and constant pain in your head or neck so the problem can be determined. Some questions and answers can help the doctor of chiropractic determine what your issue may be so they can give you some guidance.

Pillow Problems

Maybe it's when you first wake that you realize your neck is sore. The pillow you use for bed can play a major role in whether you're waking well-rested or feeling achy. The wrong pillow will have you tossing and turning as you try to get comfortable. The right one will have you sleeping well throughout the night. Start with a chiropractic visit so you can get your neck and spine adjusted. Follow it with purchasing a chiropractic pillow that allows your neck to stay in line with your spine and promote better sleep.

Stress

Stress can be the simple culprit of your neck pain. You may hold tension in your neck and shoulders when you become stressed or overwhelmed. The chiropractor can help to ease some of this tension. They can also provide a full adjustment and time away that simply helps you clear your stressed out mind. Ask for some tips on other ways to alleviate stress so you can avoid the pain that comes with it down the line.
