Chiropractic and the College Student
By Krista Elliott
Starting college or university is a particularly exciting time in a person's life. You may be living away from your parents for the very first time, tasting the sweet, sweet freedom that dorm (or apartment) life can bring. Not only is going to college a great step in your overall education, but it also teaches you a lot of responsibility. Nobody's nagging you to get up in the morning for your classes, which sounds great, but it means that you're the one responsible for dragging yourself out of bed to get there on time. Living on your own, even if it's with roommates, comes with the fact that nobody's going to take care of your daily responsibilities for you — you have to handle it yourself.
Along with your schedule, housekeeping, finances, and other new responsibilities, let's not forget the most important one of all: Your health. As a young adult, you are now responsible for your own health and well-being, whether that means making sure you're eating properly, getting enough rest, exercising, or seeing your doctor for checkups. And in that list, it's also important to schedule your chiropractic care.
Why Chiropractic Care Should Follow You to College
College life comes with a lot of change and upheaval. You're sleeping on a new bed (and one that's probably nowhere near as supportive as the one you have at home), you're sitting in different seating than you're used to, you may be trying out new sports, you're hunched over a desk studying (sometimes), and it's a pretty safe bet that you're getting less quality sleep (especially if your roommate is anything like mine, flying down the hall yelling "Get up! We're going ooooouuuuuttttt!" just as you were ready to hit the sack for the night).
All of this new activity, combined with a change in your physical comforts, can spell back pain. Maintaining a regular schedule of chiropractic care with the experts at The Joint Chiropractic, helps to ensure that you don't miss a moment. Healthy, natural, and drug-free, chiropractic care is an excellent choice not just for managing back pain, but for preventing it in the first place. And because you don't need to make an appointment, we're easy to fit in to your busy schedule.
College is a time for education and growth, and sets the stage for the habits that will carry you through your entire life. So why not start things off right by visiting The Joint? We're looking forward to your visit!
