Exercise Outside With Baby Using Chiropractic Tips

By Brandi Goodman

Outdoor exercise is great for your health. As a parent, however, it isn't always possible to get outside -- let alone work out on your own. You may need to learn how to safely incorporate baby into your outdoor exercise routine so you can benefit from the fresh air and sunlight while also caring for your kid. Some chiropractic tips can help.

Bike With a Trailer

You may remember those bicycles that came combined with a second carrier seat for a child. You still have this option today, but it isn't as safe as the trailers that can be pulled behind instead. Bike with a trailer so you have the added stability and a safer space for your little one.

Use an Adjustable Jogging Stroller

A jogging stroller is a great invention that allows parents to continue exercising with baby in tow. Just be sure you get an adjustable option so you can move the handlebars into a position that works best for you. You don't want to be slouched forward in an attempt to reach a low bar while you jog and push. The handlebars should be at a comfortable level so you can jog with ease as your baby gets a ride.

Choose the Right Carrier

A carrier is great if you want to get out for a walk. You need to choose the right one though. A backpack option isn't ideal because it puts extra weight on your shoulders that can easily lead to injury. You also cannot see your child to make sure their head is staying upright. This is important for children under one. A front-side carrier is a better option but you still need to be sure the weight is distributed evenly. Get a carrier with wide straps for around your shoulders and an additional wide strap around your back. This will keep you stable.

Get Chiropractic

Don't start your new baby-included routine just yet. It's important to get chiropractic care before you begin a new exercise plan. This way you can be sure your body is in the right shape for the type of exercises you're trying to do and no joint restrictions or subluxations are going to restrict you. Continue seeing a chiropractor regularly to maintain your well-being.

With a few chiropractic tips in mind you can make the most of your outdoor exercise with baby. Lots of options exist that help you get the workout you need even with an infant around. You just have to use a little more caution than usual.
