Everyday Item Switches Suggested by the Chiropractor
By Brandi Goodman
Each day, there are things you use to make your life a bit easier. A pair of shoes keep your feet safe from the hard ground. Your phone keeps you updated on the latest news and trends. Your purse or bag allows you to store your belongings and keep them handy when you're on the go. These everyday items actually require you to make a lot of switches, according to the chiropractor -- that is, if you want to avoid the pain that sometimes comes with them and keep your health and well-being in the best shape possible.
Switch Your Heels for Athletic Shoes
People looking to elongate their legs and look taller may turn to heels or wedges in the process. These types of shoes are not good for your body. They throw your posture out of whack and can quickly lead to pain as you wear them throughout the day. It's far better to switch out heels for athletic shoes that are sturdy, comfortable, and absorb much of the shock your lower body takes with each step along a hard ground.
Switch Your Phone's Position
Too many people spend hours of their day looking down at their devices. This can lead to some serious neck strain and even an unusual bulge caused by a herniated disc. You need to switch the position of your phone so you're looking straight at it and not tilting downward. Hold your phone at eye level so your posture can remain proper. You'll also want to take regular breaks from your phone so you aren't sitting staring at a screen for long intervals that cause discomfort in your body and strain of your eyes.
Switch Your Purse to a Backpack
A one-handed purse can put a lot of weight on a particular side of your body. You want the weight of your bag to be dispersed evenly so it does not cause tension on one side. Switch your purse to a backpack that goes over both shoulders. Your body can carry the weight evenly and you can avoid a lot of discomfort in the process. There are plenty of adorable purse backpacks on the market that can hold your items and keep your body in proportion.
These everyday items can be great for you as long as you make the necessary switches to the right ones. Use them correctly and ensure your posture is maintained so pain isn't a problem because of them. You can always visit The Joint Chiropractic for an adjustment to alleviate some of your body's tension caused by these items or others. You may also receive additional guidance on which everyday item switches you should be making for the better.
