4 Chiropractic Tips for Your Neck
By Brandi Goodman
Your neck is a common place to feel discomfort. If you're looking downward often throughout your day or you're slumping your shoulders, you're even more likely to feel pain in this area. Keep some chiropractic tips in mind to help prevent so much added tension in your neck.
Get an Adjustment
An adjustment with a chiropractor isn't intended for just your back. Your neck can be adjusted as well to help alleviate pain in this area and ensure you can have your full range of motion to turn your head from side to side without discomfort. Even a miniscule subluxation within your neck or shoulder region needs correcting so you can feel more at ease.
Quit Looking Down at Your Device
Far too many spend hours out of their day looking down. If you've got a phone in your hands, your head is most likely tilted downward so you can view the small screen. This is a terrible practice that needs to be eliminated from society. So many people are suffering from tech neck because their necks are perpetually tilted downward looking at technology-capable devices. Hold your phone at eye level instead. Better yet, utilize the newest contraptions that can go around your neck and hold your device in place so you don't have to keep your arms up, either. It will save you some serious pain.
Get a Chiropractic Pillow
If you're waking up with your neck and shoulders feeling sore, it may be time for a new pillow. A chiropractic pillow is the best solution because it offers a section that cradles your neck and keeps it comfortable. You're more likely to wake up feeling refreshed - or at least without a kink in your neck -- if you use this type of sleep aid.
Try Neck and Shoulder Exercises
You're less likely to feel pain in this area if you're working to strengthen it. Try neck and shoulder exercises that strengthen the joints and help you avoid pain in the future. Start with some simple stretches, turning your neck to one side and then the other. Rotate it slowly in one direction and then back the other way. Roll your shoulders forward and back. These simple stretches can go a long way toward helping you alleviate tension here.
