Why You Need More Date Nights in Your Life
By Brandi Goodman
Date night -- the once-in-a-while thing that so many people look forward to when they get the chance to have it. Don't let it be like this in your life. You need more date nights in your life if you hope to stay connected to your partner and improve your mental well-being. Even if you have to schedule it in to make sure it happens, do it!
It Can Help You Stay Connected
You and your partner need to stay connected. One way to do that is through date nights. Don't just go out at the beginning of the relationship and then spend the rest of your days staying in. Plan more date nights out so the two of you can stay connected and have that extra bonding time together. Leave the phones away, too. You two should enjoy each other's company and spend time talking to really make it worthwhile.
It Can Improve Your Mental Health
On a day when you're feeling down, you may not feel like going out at all. This is exactly the day when you should. Taking the time to get dressed up and go out for a date night with your significant other can brighten your mood and help to improve your mental health. If you truly can't fathom going out, then plan a date night in instead. It can still do a lot of good.
It Can Rekindle Your Friendship
Chances are, you and your spouse had a great friendship at first. During the beginning stages of dating, you could talk about anything, spend lots of time together, and always want to go on exciting adventures. Sometimes, those feelings of friendship get lost as the years go by and responsibilities take over. Your spouse can feel like a stranger. Going on regular dates -- doing more than just a basic dinner -- can help rekindle that friendship and remind you both why you enjoyed each other's company in the first place.
Even without a significant other, you can still enjoy date nights out. Either go out with a friend or try a dating app that can connect you with someone nearby. Meeting in a public place is always key. Either way, having more date nights out can really help to keep you connected with other people and be great for some relaxing time away that's needed for your mental well-being.
