Meet The Doctors

Dr. Charles Lundin, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Azusa

Dr. Lundin was born in Fullerton, CA , and grew up in La Habra, CA. He was MVP in cross country and track and league champion in cross country and a marathon runner who ran in the US Navy. He currently lives in the home he grew up in La Habra, CA. He has dedicated his life to chiropractic because of the pure and natural ways of healing through adjustments. He graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1996. He attended Cypress College in Cypress, CA, and graduated in 1991 with an Associate of Science degree in Biology.

Dr. Lundin’s first chiropractic job was with my own practice as a traveling chiropractor out of Cypress, CA. He opened a small cash practice in La Habra in front of a trucking company that he drove 18-wheelers for while attending college. The best thing about being in the chiropractic profession is to see patients and hear them say, “Thanks, doc. I feel so much better.” That never gets old.

There is nothing negative about being a chiropractor. It is the best profession in the world! His hobbies: gardening, camping, rebuilding my old homestead cabin in the high desert that’s been in my family for 60 years.

Dr. Lundin navigated and steered the world’s largest ship, the USS Constellation. One of the last oil-burning air craft carriers in the Navy.Dr. Lundin would love to spend a week at sea watching the launching of fighter jets off the flight deck of a nuclear super carrier.

His personal motto is Never give up. Never!

Dr. Michael O’Hern was born and raised in West Covina, CA. He attended Humboldt State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology in 2015. Later, he went on to attend Southern California University of Health Sciences. Dr. O’Hern worked with chiropractors in Temecula, Rancho Cucamonga, and Whittier where he was able to treat a wide variety of different patients. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2020.

After receiving his chiropractic license, Dr. O’Hern started working for The Joint at both the LaVerne and Azusa locations in February 2021.

Dr. O’Hern says the best part about being a chiropractor is the ability to get patients out of pain while also educating them and providing guidance towards living a healthy and more active lifestyle.

In his free time, Dr. O’Hern enjoys hiking, going to the beach, and playing the drums.

Looking back at my Loyola High School years in Los Angeles I enjoyed my science and math classes, and probably because my dad was an aerospace engineer, I decided to enter UC Riverside as a Biology major. I finished UCR with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in four years. I wanted to be a healthcare practitioner but wanted to spend time with my family and practice outside a hospital setting.

After college I worked as a teacher and then in a laboratory setting as a chemist until I could figure out a long-term profession. I was only 23 or 24 and my back was hurting from leaning inside a hood to mix chemicals. Working out would help only sometimes. My health insurance started to cover chiropractic, so I went to see my first chiropractor. After my first adjustment, I felt better: at work, then in the gym I felt stronger too. The doctor worked about 30 hours per week and enjoyed golf. This was it. I was going to be a chiropractor. I started chiropractic school at LACC (now Southern California of Health Sciences) and was blown away with the curriculum.

Because I had been out of school for couple years and did some studying, I knew I had to plan now for after my schooling was complete. So, I started interning for free after my first semester with a few local chiropractors. I found out later this was a HUGE ADVANTAGE. Getting through the three and one-half years of chiropractic school and the national boards exam was a grind. But I finished with about 50% of my starting class. I had been volunteering and now started working as an associate being compensated with a salary and commission. I loved it. I learned more about treating patients because I was in it. The chiropractor I worked for was generous with his experience and knowledge, so I did not have to make my own mistakes.

After a few years working at this office, I felt it was time to move on and was grateful for the D.C. who helped my learning curve. I then purchased forty-nine percent of a practice which I have been in for about fifteen years. Working with another doctor and office manager for about fifteen years has been a huge benefit allowing me to spend much family time and take home a respectable income.

Now that I have been at the Joint, I can see how you take your experience as a chiropractor anywhere. The Joint has allowed me to see many different people and still provide professional care as I do in a private practice. The other doctors and staff and management are easy to work with and allow patient treatment to be the #1 priority.
