Dancing Lessons Can Provide Exercise And Friendship

By Tom Herrin

How long has it been since you have been dancing?  Maybe so long that you can’t remember the last time.  Many couples don’t dance at all.  A lot of times it is because you have been so busy making a living that you haven’t thought about it.  We forget to take time to go out and find some enjoyment.  Face it, too many of us fall into a routine of sitting around watching television and fail to look for something active to do.  Whether it is with a spouse, other family member, friend, or by yourself, you can find enjoyment and good exercise by dancing.

Dancing Can Be A Light Aerobic Exercise

If you have found yourself in need of some cardio activity, dancing can fill the bill.  You won’t be running a marathon, but you can experience some steady exercise that can improve your overall conditioning.  Believe it or not, dancing for 15 minutes may have you huffing and puffing.  You can take breaks, but with each dance three to five minutes long, you can exert yourself sufficiently to get your blood flowing.  This always improves your health.  You will have to be careful not to overdo it.

The Social Activity Will Help You Clear Your Mind

If you try a dance class, you will be sure to meet new people.  You will be able to leave behind the worries from work or home.  It will be a nice relief.  You will soon look forward to the weekly experiences you can have.  Whether you go with someone or go alone, sharing with others will provide you with an emotional lift.  Dancing can be a great way to relieve stress and stave off depression.  Some people who get involved in it soon find themselves signing up for a second kind of dancing class.

It Can Be A Great Way To Have A Complete Package

Dancing can help in a lot more ways as we age.  Many people have problems with things such as balance.  Dancing can help to improve your balance as you increase your level of activity.  It can also be a fun way to help with weight control.  When you get lost in enjoyment, exercise and managing your weight seem much easier.  How about pulling out those dancing shoes and dusting them off?  It is pretty painless and you might rekindle some old relationships and make some new ones.
