Spending Time Outdoors Can Make You Healthier

By Tom Herrin

Too many times people overlook the obvious.  There is plenty of advertising that can promise everything from miracle weight loss to hair restoration to easy bodybuilding.  Much of it has considerable merit, but it all seems to come in a package that can be bought ready for use.  When it comes to making some simple changes that can have an impact on health, some of the more inexpensive things may be the best.  One of those things is spending time outdoors.  For those who spend almost all of their time in air conditioned environments, it can be a small challenge.  The benefits can be huge and do so for the whole family.

Exercise Becomes Natural

When people spend time in the outdoors, they will automatically move around more.  Even small walks can improve the cardiovascular system.  People become so ingrained in routine that it is easy to forget the value of just walking around.  In places where there is any varied terrain, they will get an even better workout.  A lot of the bad things happen when people sit too much.  They burn fat poorly, circulation is impaired, muscles overall are deprived of much work.

Cleaner Air Really Is Available

Everyone is aware that the air is not as clean as it once was.  Being in the outdoors can make a better variety of cleaner air available.  Once away from the cities, there is generally less pollution, secondhand smoke, and other things produced in everyday events.  There is also a better source of green plants that help to purify the air and produce oxygen in their process of respiration.  While this is unlikely to solve all of the air problems around, they will do their part.  Being in the outdoors can help remedy a little of this problem.

It Can Clear The Head In More Than One Way

The outdoors can be a real morale booster.  Almost anything that can relieve stress is pretty good.  Most people tend to bottle up worries and other emotions with little means of finding relief.  Being in the outdoors can be the ticket.  Not only is there plenty of Vitamin D, but there have been some proven connections between better psychological health and the outdoors.  If you are looking for something that can make a difference in a short period of time, get out there and enjoy the outdoors.  There are parks almost everywhere.  It can help relationships as well, so take your loved ones and spend a few hours.  You will wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
