Slow Down Your Aging For Your Family

By Tom Herrin

Many times, people get so caught up in what they are doing that they fail to consider those who are affected by their decisions.  It can be a little selfish without meaning to be.  It is pretty easy to become involved in doing things such as making a living.  The tendency may be to try to cut corners in order to save time. That often means fast foods and less activity.  When they look up one day and discover that they are experiencing early signs of aging, they sometimes get concerned.  It is unfortunate when they dismiss this as a natural occurrence that is unavoidable.  That is where it is worthwhile to slow down and evaluate their own health and habits.

Hitting The Skids

As people move on from what might be called young adulthood, they may see those unwanted signs.  Higher blood pressure and higher blood sugar are two primary indicators that they are seeing aging.  Cholesterol numbers tend to worsen.  More obvious indicators, at least for men, are deteriorating muscles and increased fat.  Some of this is apparent at a glance as they begin to gain in the waist.  Type 2 diabetes appears for many.

It Is Not All Gloom And Doom

Studies have shown that even people who have lived very sedentary lives can make changes and see improvement in overall health.  Those things that are related to aging need not always be present at such early ages.  Once people have begun regular exercise programs, and sustained them for weeks or months, they may see all those numbers turn in the right direction.  Mobility that may have seemed lost can possibly return.  An improved diet may help with weight loss as well as metabolic efficiency.

Decide And Do

You can do a lot with a little.  Making a decision about your health is a great start.  You have to follow through.  If you decide today, start today.  I will have to say I have had good success with exercising and dieting.  I try to exercise regularly, and I have found that in order to be effective, it doesn’t have to be heavy duty.  About a year ago when I decided I needed to lose a little weight, I made some minor changes.  After losing only a few pounds, less than 10, I felt that I had more energy and could move around better.  My cholesterol numbers and blood sugar all improved.  It motivated me to stay with a program.  What seemed like aging has taken a back seat.  You can do the same for those you love, even if not for yourself.
