Invest in the Right Tool for Sleep
By Donna Stark
Whether it's for work, a hobby, or a sport, it's difficult to get the job done, or to do it correctly, when you use the wrong type of tools. It can also be just as difficult, and sometimes even dangerous, with the correct tools if they are outdated or made out of lower quality materials, don't you agree? I'm sure you do. After all, you would probably not buy your climbing gear at the local dollar store, right? My point is this. Sometimes you need to make sound investments with quality tools, and one of the most important "tools" you should invest in, is a great mattress!
Can a Mattress Cause Pain? You Bet!
A common complaint among chiropractic patients is that they wake up each morning with significant lower back pain. It's hard for them to imagine that the super-soft and ultra-comfy mattress they bought years ago would be the culprit, but guess what? It probably is. Many people fail to consider how much support the body needs (even during sleep!) and they don't take the time to find the correct mattress that will provide that.
So if you are starting to wake up sore and achy, and if your mattress was one of the first purchases you made after moving into your own place many years ago, you may want to start thinking about investing in another one. Here are some tips on how to choose the best mattress for your body.
- Try something new - If your current mattress is causing you pain, opt for a different type. Take the time to research all of your options because there are so many you can choose from.
- Test it out - The key is to actually head into a store and test the different mattresses out. Be sure to lie down in the sleep position you use and spend enough time on each mattress so that you can experience what it feels like. Most experts recommend at least 10 minutes on each mattress.
- Choose the "try it free" option - Many companies will let you try the mattress out for a certain amount of time, and if you end up not liking it, will give you the option of returning it free of charge. This is a great way to see if a mattress really is the correct choice for your body type.
Investing in the Right Mattress
It's important to remember that the most expensive mattress isn't always the best option, so be open to trying different types. The right mattress is out there, and once you find it, you can count on quality sleep, reduced pain, and improved health and wellness. Good luck with your search!
