Having Fun While Getting in Shape

Who told you that getting fit and healthy must involve a membership to the local gym and hours of dreaded, difficult exercises? The truth is, you can do it on your own and -- surprise, surprise -- it can actually involve a lot of fun! The key to success though, is knowing how to do it. Take a look at the following examples of workouts that will keep you motivated, give your body the workout it needs, and bring immeasurable enjoyment to your life.


Hitting the trails on your own is fine, but when you have a gaggle of friends to call, why not extend the invites? Exploring the trails with your loved ones is a great way to stay connected, strengthen your body, and improve your endurance, all while having a blast! Just remember to pack enough water, consider everyone's physical condition before selecting a trail, and dress appropriately!

Rock Climbing

No matter what your skill level is, or whether you do your climbing outdoors or at an indoor facility, there is a rock for you to climb! Rock climbing will give your arms, back, and legs the workout of their lifetime. So much, that you may want to start slowly and level up instead of choosing the most difficult course from the start.


If you like to be outside and enjoy a good clue every now and then, geocaching should be your next workout adventure! Geocaching is basically a treasure hunting game that takes you as far as you wish to go. Simply download one of many apps and head outdoors with your family or friends. It's a fun way to get moving and explore the local areas you haven't been to yet.

Video Games

Video games? For a workout? Why not? They have become such a part of our lives that we can't just push them to the side now, can we? And as much as you can only picture the sitting position while playing, try to think outside of the video game box. There are so many games that require you to get up and move that you should have no problem finding something you like. And if you are stuck on those favorites you've been sitting on the couch with for years, make a new rule. Commit to only playing if you are standing up or do 20 jumping jacks every time you die. You get the point.
