Exercise and the Brain; It Is a Major Connection

In former times, there was a lot of lip service given to the notion that people who worried about brawn did little to promote their brains.  Those who were into exercise may have been considered rather dense while those who were more focused on intellect were thought of as weaker and less interested in physical activity.  While many people knew otherwise, this was often the accepted idea.  It could not have been farther from the truth.  Many are well aware that a better physical body can mean a healthier mind as well.  Newer findings can now back that up.

Exercise May Stave off Anxiety

It is no secret that, when people experience anxiety, it can wreak havoc on health.  It may produce many sleepless nights, impact on appetite, and mental confusion along with lots of other things.  More recent findings also indicate that those with high levels of anxiety may be more likely to develop dementia, and this seems to be an increasing concern in many places.  Regular exercise apparently is able to help to prevent, or reduce, anxiety.  This may preserve the brain in the long term.

Exercise May Help Rewire the Brain

Many people take the brain for granted.  That is, they may fail to realize that the brain does not simply rock along on its own.  There are many ways to intervene with its development.  Several things can help to change the workings of this intricate system of circuitry.  It is a much more efficient network than any that may be invented by man.  It is possible to improve the condition and efficiency of neurons that make it all work.  A simple example of this is when people learn a new skill.  The process of practice and application causes the brain to improve its function in performing the skill until it is able to perform it without giving so much thought to the process.

Exercise Your Brain 

It is possible to do it all if we have the desire.  I enjoy exercising, but I also want to do whatever I can to protect my mental processes.  I know that if I plan well, I can do both.  A good quality and balanced exercise program may help any of us to accomplish our goals with efficiency.  Building muscles and brain at the same time can be easy and save time.  It does not mean we should not challenge our minds, but it does mean that we are not neglecting it when we exercise as well.
