How to Manage End of School Year Stress
By Genevieve Cunningham
It's the end of the school year, and we're all beginning to feel the stress that comes with it. This time of year tends to be incredibly busy. There is so much to do. There are deadlines and meetings and schoolwork. But all of this busyness can get overwhelming, and that leads to an increase in stress. If you'd like to survive the semester without the ample amounts of stress, take a look at these tips for managing the end of the year like a pro.
Get Organized
The more organized you are, the better you're going to feel about all the craziness happening around you. It helps ground you when you can plan things on top of things that can't be planned. You may not be able to plan everything out perfectly, but plan what you can. This takes some of the stress out of your everyday life and gives you just a little more control.
Get Plenty of Rest
If you're exhausted, you're only going to feel more stressed. Don't allow that to happen because this is something that is completely under your control. Go to bed. Don't stay up late working. Don't go out super late. Just make sleep a priority. This can keep you from getting exhausted, which can significantly reduce overall stress.
Plan Something Fun
You need something to look forward to in all the chaos. Go ahead and plan a fun summer trip. Plan a vacation with family, a trip with friends, or even just a day away. When you have something to look forward to, it raises excitement and lowers stress, which is exactly what you need at this time of year.
Relax
Don't forget to take time to relax. Sometimes we completely ignore our need to rest, and it always comes back to bite us. Do whatever you need in order to relax -- even if it's only for a few minutes per day. This helps reduce stress regularly, and over time, it may keep those levels down permanently.
Don't let the end of school rush get you flustered. It's a busy time of year, but you can make it through if you're ready for it. Use these tips to reduce your stress, and you'll be through the rush and into summer before you know it.
