Chiropractic Care on the Floor in Congress

Did you know that Chiropractic care is such an important treatment for chronic pain that congress is talking about it?

Yes that's right, you heard it hear first. Chiropractic care has proven to be such a beneficial service to members of the military that Congress is taking a look at passing some new legislation that will make it easier, affordable, and more accessible for our troops in active service and our veterans. They also are looking to expand Chiropractic care’s reach in the public. The American Chiropractic Association has been working in tandem with key congressional members to move forward with four extremely helpful bills:

  • "Chiropractic Care Available to All Veterans Act" - This bill involves the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and would require that they have a Chiropractor physician on site at all major medical facilities by 2016. Having Chiropractic care readily available to veterans would offer noninvasive treatment options for neck, back, and joint pains.
  • "Chiropractic Health Parity for Military Beneficiaries Act" - By passing this bill, Congress would be extending Chiropractic care coverage to military retirees, dependents and survivors. The services included under this bill are diagnosis (can be by x-ray), evaluation, and management and ongoing treatment of back, neck and joint pains.
  • "Chiropractic Membership in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps Act of 2013" - Both Chiropractors and the public will be benefitting from this bill if it is passed. It would have Chiropractors be a part of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. This is a dedicated group of 6,000 professionals promoting disease prevention programs and working to advance public health knowledge.
  • "Access to Frontline Health Care Act" - Should this bill pass it will allow Chiropractors and other health care professionals the option to have student debt paid off in exchange for setting up their practice in "medically underserved areas."

Whether you are political or not, you should be pro-health, and Chiropractic care is making news and legislation for its health benefits!

If you are a politically charged individual maybe do some research on these bills, and write a letter to your representative. And hey if you aren't no big deal, but you should learn more about why people up on Capitol Hill are so interested in Chiropractic care. Chiropractic care has been shown time and time again to be extremely useful in relieving back, neck and joint pain. Should you find that you are suffering from pain, and relying on painkillers to make it through the day, ask your primary care physician about seeing a Chiropractor. Chiropractic care might be just what the doctor (and Congress) ordered!
