Creating Your Healthy Life
By Donna Stark
You can catch a ball, you can catch someone's attention, and you can catch a cold, but you will never be able to catch great health. Good health doesn't come that easily or that randomly no matter how much you wished it did. It requires a bit of effort and a lot of commitment, but it's not as hard to get as you may think. You just need to take a look at your diet, lifestyle, and environment, and take action if there is anything that needs to be changed.
Creating a Healthy Life
You may not be able to catch good health, but you can certainly create it. Start by taking a look at where you ultimately want to end up. What goals do you want to achieve? What relationships do you want to nurture? Once you have a plan in your mind, gear your actions toward it. Here are some of the areas in life that should be considered when trying to improve your overall health and wellness.
- Diet - Are your food choices today going to get you to where you want to be tomorrow? If not, it may be time to set aside the soda, wings, and ice cream and try something different. Your diet should mainly consist of water, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and heart-healthy fats. Now that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a dozen wings when watching your favorite sports game, but do so in moderation.
- Lifestyle - Are you exercising daily? Do you spend enough time practicing self-care and nurturing relationships? How are your stress levels and your finances? These are all things to think about if you are looking for ways to improve your overall well-being. When you start establishing healthier boundaries and habits, your quality of life will improve.
- Environment - Don't forget to take a long look at your environment too. This includes your home, work, and even your car. You want to make sure that the places where you spend most of your time are designed with your good health in mind. So clear out the clutter, keep those areas clean, invest in ergonomic furniture, use air purifiers ... you get the point. Your overall wellness depends on how safe, clean, and healthy those environments are, so start today and make any necessary changes.
Your Actions Are What Counts
Don't make the mistake of sitting back and hoping that good health will fall in your lap. Remember, a lot of what you receive is a direct result of what you worked for, so get busy! Your actions mean the world here.
