Simple Changes for Better Health

By Donna Stark

Are you going through life feeling not necessarily bad, but also not necessarily great? Has "blah'' become your favorite go-to word to use when describing your overall state of health? Improving the way you feel has never been more important then, and fortunately, it's pretty simple to do. Now, that doesn't mean it is going to be easy. The changes you need to make are simple to implement, but if you have a lifetime of bad habits, it may be hard to break free of them all at once.

Simple Changes for Better Health

You'll be happy to know that you don't have to be alone in the process of improving your overall wellness. Your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic are here to help every step of the way. Take a look at some of the simple changes they suggest for better health and an improved quality of life.

  • Drink the recommended amount of water - There is no way around it. Your organs need it, your brain needs it, and your joints need it, so drink up!
  • Eat real foods - If you aren't sure what "real" foods are, skip the grocery store and head to your local farmers market. Consuming foods in their natural state will make an incredible impact on the way you feel.
  • Exercise daily - When you think of exercise, what comes to mind? A gym filled with mirrors, equipment, and heavy weights? A 10-mile run every morning? Daily exercise doesn't mean you need to kill yourself. What it does mean is that you need to move your body as much as you can to your best ability. The goal is to exercise intelligently for your age, physical condition, and goals.
  • Stimulate your brain - Engaging in physical activity is critical for good health, but don't forget to keep your brain stimulated as well. Mental activities such as reading, learning new skills, and solving puzzles are a great way to improve your mental skills while also warding off cognitive decline.
  • Detox from technology - Technology has a way of stealing your attention and your time, but did you know it can also steal your sleep? The blue light emitted from your devices can wreak havoc on your natural circadian rhythm so be sure to turn your technology off at least an hour before bed and invest in a pair of blue light glasses.

Breaking Your Bad Habits

The suggestions above aren't anything new, so go ahead and put them to practice. But remember ... no matter how simple they appear, that doesn't mean it will be easy. Give yourself some grace when needed and start slowly. Good health doesn't magically appear. It will take some time and a lot of dedication!
