Simple Ways to Remember to Drink Water

By Sara Butler

Hydration is a very important part of your health and wellness. Your body needs the right amount of water each day to function at its very best and to help you feel your best too. If you have trouble remembering to drink enough water, then here are a few strategies you can use to help.

Why Hydration is Important

Water plays a role in every function of your body. It helps your metabolism run smoothly, it ensures proper function of the cellular membrane, it regulates body temperature, aids in digestion, delivers oxygen to the whole body, lubricates the joints, helps your brains secrete hormones, transports nutrients, and rejuvenates your cells. Without it, you simply won't last long and if you don't get enough of it, you'll notice that nearly every aspect of your daily life can suffer.

Buy an Awesome Water Bottle

This is a simple tip that is actually really effective. If you buy a water bottle you like to carry around because it's colorful or because it's insulated and keeps your water ice cold all day, then you'll drink more water. It's as simple as that.

Set an Alarm

Set an alarm on your computer at work or on your phone that reminds you every hour to drink water. You can combine this with the alarm that helps you remember to get up and move around every hour when you're at home and work. An easy way to kill two health birds with one wellness stone.

Add Pizazz

If you want to dress your water up a bit to help make it less boring, then try creating infused water. To do this, simply add sliced limes, lemons or other fruit you enjoy to your water. You can throw in some mint leaves too. It'll make you feel as if you're hanging out at a spa all day long and help encourage you to drink more water while you're at it.

Make Tea

OK, so tea isn't technically just water, but adding a tea bag can help infuse some flavor if you get a little bored of plain water. Choose an herbal tea that's caffeine-free for the best effect. There are so many different kinds of tea you can experiment with, the possibilities are nearly endless.

There are plenty of ways to make drinking water easier. Try a few and see how you do!
