How to Boost Your Energy – Naturally!
By Sara Butler
People are always looking for more ways to increase their energy levels. With so many commitments in life, from work to home, it’s no wonder people are constantly on the lookout for ways to find more energy to get the job done. Well, put down that extra strength coffee or energy drink because there are completely natural ways you can find the energy you need - and one of them can be found on your chiropractor's table!
You Are What You Eat
A healthy diet rich in whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins is an excellent way to get an energy boost naturally. If you really need a pick-me-up, try adding more fish to your diet. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish can help to fight depression and give you more energy. If fish isn’t your thing, you can try flaxseed or walnuts for the same effect. Your chiropractor may have some other suggestions for foods to help give you a bit of a boost.
Just Add Water
You may find if you’re not getting enough water during the day your energy can be just as dry as the Sahara. You should aim to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water per day in order to stay hydrated and keep those energy levels up.
It may sound counterintuitive, but expending energy through exercise can actually help you to have more of it. Physical exercise helps your body to refuel through delivering oxygen to your body’s cells more efficiently, and that will leave you feeling good all day long.
How’s Your Blood Pressure?
People may not realize it, but chronic high blood pressure can be a huge energy drain. The American Heart Association guesstimates 1 in 3 American adults has high blood pressure, so if you’re feeling drained and aren't sure of the reason, you need to get it checked.
Let the Sunshine In
Vitamin D is something your body needs in order to maintain the balance of the other vitamins that help to keep your energy levels up - so it's pretty important. You can encourage your body to produce more Vitamin D with just 10 minutes of sun exposure.
