Easy Ways to Boost Your Energy
By Sara Butler
Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling as if you barely slept at all, then fade fast in the afternoon? You need more energy and it's not going to be found in a coffee cup. In fact, there are some things you can do to boost your energy levels that are also good for your overall health and wellness. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
Walk for 10 Minutes
If you want a little more pep in your step, then you need to walk just 10 minutes per day. A study out of California State University found that a 10-minute walk can help to boost your energy and keep it up for at least two hours. If you want to push a little more, then up that walk to 20 minutes and you'll find you can cut your feelings of fatigue in half.
Get Outside
You can combine suggestion number one with this suggestion for an energy double whammy! Just being outside can help you feel more alert. Many studies have confirmed that being outside can help to give your energy levels a jump start as you take in the beauty of nature around you.
Don't Fall Victim to the Vending Machine
When you're hitting the afternoon slump, you may be tempted to take a trip to the vending machine for a sugary pick me up. That's a terrible idea! While you may initially notice a small bump in your energy from your blood sugar rising quickly, it'll come crashing down just as fast. That will put you right back at square one and leave you just as tired if you were before -- maybe even a little more.
You're far better off to have a glass of water to help you pep up or have a snack that is a good source of protein and complex carbohydrates, such as nut butter on whole grain crackers.
Drink Water
Speaking of drinking water, if you drink enough of it each day, then it'll give your energy a boost too. If you're dehydrated, then you can feel fatigued. Water can help your energy levels to get a leg up and spark your metabolism, which will help you feel more energized too.
Energy is something that once you know how to get more of it, you'll find it difficult to run out! Take the steps you need to have more of it naturally!
