How to Switch from Regular to Premium at Work

By Sandy Schroeder

Most of us are always looking for ways to move faster and think better. We all want to be successful, but getting there can be a challenge.

Here are some ways successful people do things differently from Lifehack.

Move past goals to plans – It’s easy to talk about what you want to do, but sitting down and creating a detailed plan might really make it happen.

Focus on ideas, not people – People who move ahead with projects spend time on goals, research, and plans, skipping gossip and trivia.

Stop complaining and adapt – People who win deal with life as is, and make the best of it. Read the biographies of successful people to see how they did it. Often, they had a tough road with few breaks, but they made it work. You can’t avoid all of the obstacles, but you can determine how you react.

Know your own mind – Sometimes we let the negative remarks and thoughts of others set a pattern for us. People who succeed take note of the negatives and then move on with their own positive approach.

Focus on important stuff – Many people seek to accumulate adding one possession after another. Wise people choose the ones that they really want and skip the rest, spending their time and energy on the things that they value most.

Try for long-range rewards – Sometimes it’s too easy to choose instant rewards that become comfortable habits, eating, drinking, and hanging out. The truly motivated people enjoy a good party but focus most of their energy on getting to their ultimate goals.

Avoid judging others – A lot of unsuccessful people spend much of their time judging others. People who succeed don’t waste their time judging others; they are out there helping others and working on their own plans. They only judge themselves.

Read a lot – People who are motivated to move ahead read constantly, scanning reports, research and opinions of experts. One valuable book can lead to five others. Devoted readers often have a couple books going at once. TV is not allowed to soak up free time. Instead they use TV for specific programs or news updates.

Choose action over wishes – We all know someone who has big plans and wishes for the future. We also probably know someone who is busy every day making his or her wishes happen. They know most really good things take hard work, and nothing happens unless you take the first step.
