3 Natural Ways to Reduce Stress
By Genevieve Cunningham
Stress is a normal occurrence in life. We all have to deal with it, and most of us have to deal with it on a daily basis. While we’re generally used to the idea of living with stress, there’s no reason to let excessive stress take over your life. If you think you have a bit too much every day, take a look at these tips for lowering stress levels naturally and effectively in everyday life.
You might not want to hear this, but exercise is excellent at reducing mental stress. The bod can only handle one type of stress at a time. If you’re mentally stressing out, go exercise and physically stress your body out. You’ll soon find that the mental anguish slowly disappears as your body becomes focused on the physical stress. As a bonus, this method may also help you get in great shape too!
This is hard … probably harder than exercise. Meditation requires you to sit for a certain time limit. While that sounds easy, it's definitely not for the majority of people. You don’t think about anything or do anything special with your body. You just sit. Because we’re always on the go, this is incredibly difficult. But it’s a great way to lower stress levels. In fact, those who meditate on a regular basis often find that stress levels are lower than ever on a continual basis. Just start slowly, sitting for only a couple of minutes at a time, and then work your way toward longer periods of time as you can.
Go See Your Friends
As long as you have good, positive friends in your life, they can be really good at lowering your stress. For starters, they’ll probably let you vent your frustrations. And when you’re finished, they’ll help distract you with small talk, activity, or just being together. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, make a quick visit to your best friends and you’ll notice much lower stress levels by the time you go home.
Stress is a bummer. We can’t escape it, but we don’t want to live with it either. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to lower your stress every day. Be diligent in keeping stress levels at bay in order to protect your mental and physical well-being. Give these methods a try and enjoy the stress-free life that follows.
