How to Stay Active During Summer Vacations
By Donna Stark
Are you looking forward to all those lazy days on the beach, by the pool, and at the cabin? Well, you worked hard all year long so you definitely deserve some downtime during your summer vacation, but don't forget to fit in some physical activity while on your trip. Maintaining your health is just as important during your time away from home as it is the rest of the year so keep your daily fitness routine at the top of your priority list. Here are some tips from your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic that will help you stay active and healthy during your well-deserved vacation.
Plan It
If you know your motivation to exercise will cease to exist once you arrive at your destination, it may be a good idea to plan ahead and schedule it into your days. Reschedule your workout sessions as best as possible to accommodate all that relaxing you plan to do and if you can't make it happen, try to wake up earlier than everyone else to get a brisk morning walk in. Walking is an excellent form of exercise that will help keep you on track with all your health and fitness goals.
Add It
Don't worry if you are unable to keep up with your normal fitness routine during your vacation. There are plenty of other ways you can add movement to your days if you think about it. Do some calf raises while brushing your teeth, add some squats while cooking your meals, or throw in some lunges while walking to your car. And if you are cooling down in a pool, add some extra movements instead of standing in one spot. Sure, these suggestions may feel silly at first, but they are a great way to keep your body fit!
Organize It
No matter where you go for vacation, there are bound to be a ton of physical activities the whole family can join in on. Invite everyone to be involved by organizing hikes, canoe rides, games, and shopping trips. Hiding your exercise into fun activities may not fool everyone, but it will certainly be a great way to keep everyone moving!
Staying Active During Summer Vacations
Depending on what your summer vacation is like, staying active could be challenging, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. With the simple tips above and a little planning on your part, achieving a fun and relaxing time away from home while still keeping yourself and your loved ones moving is easier to do than you think!
